Onions & Peppers

Almost every recipe I post, and almost every meal I cook, I use peppers and onions. There is definitely a key to cooking them correctly to put in your food.

Onions and peppers add a great flavor to any meal that you cook. Some recipes call for dehydrated onions, I prefer to use fresh. It's healthier and tastes better. If your recipe calls for garlic, you can add it into the onions and peppers as they are cooking as well.

Currently, I have a T-Fal frying pan. I bought it at Wal Mart for about $20.00. You can find them there, King Soopers, Target, etc. Mine is pretty large. They come in all different shapes and sizes. I will have a link to them at the end of this. :)

In the pan, I usually use olive oil, or butter if I dont have olive oil. (the oil is healthier)
There is a red dot in the middle of the T-Fal pans, and that is the size amount of oil I will use. I also use a sprinkle of salt for flavor.

When you cut your onions and peppers, the smaller you cut them into the faster they will cook. It depends on what you're making as to what size you want them to be. For example, if you are putting them in fajitas, you will want them bigger. If it's going into sauce, you will want them small. It also depends on your preference on how big you want them to be.

How long you cook them also depends on if you want a little fresh crunch in your food or not.

Honestly, I don't like raw onion that much. Sometimes on a burger, but not in anything else. Peppers are awesome raw, just fresh by themselves, but in food I prefer them to be completely cooked.

When you have them in the pan, you can mix them up with the oil or butter, make them into a pile in the middle of the pan and put a lid on them. Cook them on medium to low.

If you want them as done as I enjoy them, cook them until the onions turn golden, and they taste super sweet and tender. Be careful though, sometimes the butter or oil will turn them yellow and make them look done when they are not. You are best off tasting them.

When they are done to your preference, add them to whatever you are making and enjoy!

This is what they should mostly look like!
