Let's Try Something...

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I decided for my Thursday Posts, that I am going to do Healtharoni posts.

Maybe share some grocery lists, meal plans, snack ideas..work out tips?

Sound good?
There will also be corresponding videos to go along with these. :)

So here we go!

Last night, I went grocery shopping, and got some lunchbox essentials.
In case you are wondering, lunchbox essentials are things that Zac and I can take to work with us (in our lunchboxes obviously) that we (I) can have to snack on throughout the day!

This week, I got some Granny Smith Apples, Honey Crisp Apples and Baby Carrots. I also got us some individual packaged cookies, (Oreo's, Nutter Butters and Chips Ahoy). I feel that in a correct portion size, having sweets during the day won't be as bad for you. This is also why I got the apples and carrots, to have healthy alternatives.
Triscut's and Wheat Thins were purchased partially because they were on sale from $2.77 to $1.88...so.. and because they are yummy! Triscut's serving size is 6 crackers, and Wheat Thins are 16 crackers. This will provide us with a salty, crunchy snack for when we get those cravings during the day.

I bought some Boar's Head Lemon Pepper Chicken and Colby Jack Cheese. With this, we make sandwiches or wraps. Sometimes we will throw the chicken and cheese into a salad for lunch.

If you snack on healthy things throughout the day, it will help you from randomly binge eating, and help increase your metabolism. (I know this, because it happened to me)

Things to buy at the grocery store this weekend other than your holiday festivities groceries: (check your local sales, and always compare prices)

  • kale (use in replacement of lettuce/spinach)
  • Apples (they are in season, cheaper, healthy and SO yummy)
  • Squash (again, healthy, cheaper, in season, SO GOOD)
  • Beans (there is never a wrong time to stock up on beans)
  • Bread made with whole grains (for those after Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwiches)
  • Wheat Thins/Triscut's (because they are on sale if you have a King Sooper's)

Working out first thing in the morning is a great way to get your body and metabolism going! If you really don't want to wake up earlier to do this ( I never do, but find that when I do my mood during the day is so much better) you can implement a simple, low impact routine for bedtime. There are plenty of nighttime workout routines on Pinterest- Personally I would go with Yoga. Doing any kind of exercise before bed, even going for a walk, will help you sleep better. Also, not eating right before you go to bed will help. If your job or life is hectic, and you have no choice but to eat late- make sure you do some type of exercise in between when you eat and go to sleep. This will help your body to digest your food so you can sleep better.

(I know this seems a bit rambly..they'll get better!)
