Chicken Noodle Soup

I know what you're thinking, "Really Marcie? Another recipe?"
Well I will have you know that originally I created this blog for the sole purpose of posting recipes...then decided I really enjoyed posting other things too! So there! :P

Recently, I was given the opportunity to try Hemis Fares Pasta. The kind I recieved from them was the Fusilli Bucati Lunghi, otherwise known as Long Pasta Spirals. (Think double the length of a spaghetti noodle, and spiraled)

I was trying to think of something awesome to make with it, until Zac and I got influenza. After going to the doctors, we decided we needed to eat something (even though we didn't feel like it) so we could take our antibiotic and not upset our stomachs. Then Zac had the wonderful idea of making homemade chicken noodle soup.

Ingredients:

1/2 Package of Noodles

2 Chicken Breast (diced)

1 Quart of Chicken Stock

3 Celery

2 Carrots

Bay Leaf

1 tsp Salt

1 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

1 Large Pepper

1 Large Onion

3 Cups of Water

1 tsp Rosemary

1 tsp Sage

1 tsp Thyme

What you do:
First we used a food processor after chopping the onions, carrots, celery, and peppers to make it into a thick base. We then put that into my slow cooker, added the spices, chicken stock, chicken, and water. We used a baked/roasted chicken from the grocery store (easier is better when you don't feel well)
And we let it cook until it boiled. Then you are going to want to add your noodles. For them, we broke them into about 4 pieces each and tossed them in. We then let it come to a boil again. After a couple of hours, we were able to (finally) eat our soup!

These noodles worked very well for Chicken Noodle Soup, because they are hollow in the middle like a giant macaroni noodle which made them absorb the broth, making it a thick soup. (if you prefer it to be more soup like, then you can always add more water or broth)

I am excited to try out more of these noodles that Kroger has come out with! They are actually pretty awesome, as they are made in Italy!

If you have a Kroger brand store around you, I definitely recomend that you try one of the Hemis Fares Noodles!
