Top 5 Ways to Avoid the Sunday Sads
That used to confuse me, because Monday started my week. Sundays were the dreaded last day of the week. The day you spent dreading the week ahead.
Now, I love Sundays. I use them to prepare myself so I feel ready for Monday, and the new week instead of having that icky anxious feeling.
So, here are my top 5 tips for getting your Sunday ish together!
1. Plan out your week. Cliche, I know. But, you don't have to go all crazy with decorations and color coding and stickers. Just writing down on a piece of paper or in your notes app what you have going on and what needs done this week, relieves the stressed out and overwhelmed feeling.
2. Self care. Another cliche, maybe but this is SO important for your mental and physical health! I'm not saying it has to be a whole spa day, but take some time out of the day to do something to replenish yourself. Put on that face mask you've been wanting to try. Take a longer shower. Just make sure you do something for you that you normally wouldn't take the time to do.
3. Wash Yo Hair. But really though. I don't know many people who wash their hair on a daily basis, not that its good for your hair to do so! When I start the week with fresh hair, I feel ready to take on whatever my toddler throws into it.
4. Grocery Shopping / Meal Prep. Having (mostly) everything you need for food for the week helps out in a lot of ways. For example, you can stick to your meal plan easier. It is less tempting to spend money eating out because you don't want the food you have at home to go bad. We all know that I don't have the space for a bunch of meal prepping, but having food prepped and ready to go makes staying on track that much easier. Bonus: Get some shopping done at a local Farmer's Market. The produce you get will be so much fresher and better than what you can get at the grocery store, you get some outdoor walking in and not to mention community.
5. Laundry. Definitely not the most exciting Sunday activity, but it needs done anyway. Plus, there is nothing worse than waking up on Monday with your clean hair, intentions set and you reach for your favorite power outfit only to find it at the bottom of the laundry basket. Just do it. Bonus: to make it more exciting, reach out to a loved one. Maybe a friend or family member you haven't seen or talked to in awhile. It's always good to start off a week knowing people are on your side, and if you start it off with love in your heart it sets the tone for the whole week.
Try these things out. Change your attitude towards Sunday. Learn to not dread Monday.
This is your Sunday evening reminder that you are fully capable of handling whatever the Universe brings into your life this week.
