My Birth Control Journey Part 2

If you are new to my journey with Birth Control, you might want to start with this video

About a month after this video, (October 2016) my cousins baby and by friends baby turned 1 the same weekend. The baby fever was REAL. We started trying and almost exactly 2 months after I posted the video I got pregnant with Orin.

Fast forward to 3 months Postpartum. Condoms suck, and I don't enjoy using spermicidal gel. So, my husband and I talked about it, and against my better judgement I went back on my original pill.

Can you guess what happened?

It was not fun. It confirmed for me, everything I talked about in that video. My sex drive was off, my mood was unpredictable and sucky. When i would freak out, it was bad. About a week before my period was always super bad.

I think it was around April 2018 when I stopped taking it again. My hair, my skin, my body was all still changing from being postpartum.

During this time, we were using spermicidal gel. Still didn't enjoy using it, but it was better than a condom. We used it EVERY time.

Then, on June 9th, two of our wonderful friends got married. We traveled from Grand Junction to Denver in one day, with our 11 month old, 2 chiweenies and 5 chiweenie puppues who were only a few weeks old.

We left the dogs and Orin with my mom, and headed to the wedding. Did I mention that the reception had an open bar?

You do the math. First night without the kid in 10 months + an open bar = some not so responsible decisions.

1 time. We didn't use the spermicide ONE time. The next morning, I knew.

After having Kalia, we've been using the spermicidal gel. However, our local stores no longer carry it. So until we find some we like online, back to condoms it is. (Oh joy ðŸ˜‚

I know I will never go on hormonal birth control ever again. I also wont do the copper IUD. There are WAY too many complications with that. (More cramps, ovarian cysts, increased bleeding..)

I use 2 period/fertility apps on my phone. Clue and Ovia Fertility & Cycle Tracker

I am not here to tell you what you should do, or what prescription medication to take or not.

I am sharing my story, with the hope that you seriously look into the things you put inside your body.

If you want to talk more about this, or if this resonated with you, don't be afraid to reach out! My inbox is always open, and a safe space!
